Cost per session

The cost of my services are based on my credentials, 22+ years of clinical experience, the location of my practice and my specialized training. Fees will be discussed during our first call. I offer sliding scale options for artists, social justice activists or underinsured persons. Fees are due at the time of service via check or Venmo.

Insurance

I can provide you with a monthly invoice to submit a mental health claim to your health insurance plan. I am an “out of network” provider with the exception of the Princeton Student Health Plan Aetna and Medicare. Some insurance plans offer reimbursement for sessions with a therapist who is not on the insurance company’s list of in-network providers. Your insurance company can provide you with detailed specifics of your plan.

The primary reasons that I do not accept insurance is economic. Rates of reimbursement by insurance companies are deemed too low to sustain a private practice and payments are time-consuming to track down.

How do Out-of-Network benefits work?

Out-of-Network (OON) benefits work similarly to rebates. In this example, you pay full price at the store for an item and then submit a receipt and form, and the manufacturer sends you a rebate check. With insurance, the receipt is called an insurance superbill. If your plan does include these benefits, you will pay for your therapy sessions up front and I will provide you a superbill at the end of the month to submit to your insurance. In turn, they will refund a percentage of your out-of-pocket costs, as determined by your plan's coverage. Please call your insurance provider for information on what your plan offers with regard to Out-of-Network benefits. Always remember to ask if your plan has a deductible, and what the reimbursement process is like. It will be your responsibility to submit claims and monitor reimbursement status, as the check will be mailed directly to you. Refunds will not be provided if your insurance does not reimburse you for services for any reason.
